How to choose the right kitten from a shelter?

June 17th, 2010 by Two-Legs

I really like the personality of Russian Blues, but since I can’t get one from a shelter, I’ll have to adopt a mixed kitten.

So, my question is: Since most of the kittens in shelters are muts, how am I to determine its personality (obviously not by breed)?

What will it be like as an adult cat?

I need an affectonate, calm, loyal cat, a cat that can be my best pal.

How to make my kitten stop hissing at my older cat?

May 1st, 2010 by Two-Legs

I just moved back into my parents house with my new kitten, she is 5 months old and not spayed yet. My parents already have a 4 year old male cat who is fixed. My kitten goes up to the cat and hisses and growls and tries to scratch the adult cat but the adult cat doesnt do anything. How can i get my cat to calm down and now hiss at the adult cat anymore?

How important is it for kittens to eat kitten food?

April 4th, 2010 by Two-Legs

I have a 3 month old kitten and an 11 year old cat. Both of them like to eat little and often so their feeding bowls are always out. They both enjoy dry biscuits and recently I’ve noticed that the kitten will push the big cat out of her way so she can get to his food, he then just wanders over to her food.
Is it important that she’s eating the right sort of food for her age? She really seems to prefer adult cat food.
