How do I gat a kitten to eat solid food?

June 18th, 2010 by Two-Legs

I have a 6 week old kitten and she turns her nose up to any kind of food but moms milk. She sniffs it and trys to bury it like it’s cat litter. I had a litter before her and both kittens did the same..They were 7 to 8 weeks old before they would touch solid food and I had to mix solid with can (cat food) gravy. I have a home for this lil girl and the new owners are ready for her but I dont want to send her to her new home with her not eating dry food. What can I do?

How long does it take for a kitten to be fully weaned from the time it starts eating?

May 24th, 2010 by Two-Legs

I am feeding some abandoned kittens with a bottle. Two of them have already started eating canned kitten food, but a little bit. They want some more milk afterwards. How long from now do they need until they are fully weaned? And until they start eating dry food for kittens?

When should your kitten start eating all dry food instead of milk?

April 19th, 2010 by Two-Legs

My cat has one adorable little kitten and I was wondering when the kitten would start eating dry food only.Because I already found her a home and the soon to be new owner doesn’t live close by,I kinda need to know when she could be taken away from her mother.

Should I provide kitten formula for vitamins and nutrients for a cat who already eats dry food?

April 18th, 2010 by Two-Legs

We just rescued a very small kitten. I am not sure how old she is, but our appt isn’t until next Tuesday. She is able to eat dry food mixed with a little water to make it easier to chew. Should I still provide her kitten formula for vitamins and nutrients?
Thank you for the quick responses and advice. I do provide her an additional bowl for water also. I am heading to Petsmart right now to get other supplies that were suggested. Thanks again!
